Rue du Chateau, in the Scottish Borders, provides stunning riverside pitches for those that want to get back to nature with authentic, wild camping. You are free to choose your perfect spot along the mown riverbank among the wild primroses, where you'll find peace and tranquillity listening to the river song. All pitches are a short walk away from the main farm, and those dark night skies and sparkling stars are truly awe inspiring to see.
Campers, trailer tents and campervans are all welcome at Rue du Chateau. Fresh water, electric charging points, a kettle for hot water and towels are available on request in the farm courtyard (where you will leave your car) which is a small walk away from the camping area. Wheelbarrows are provided to help you move your belongings. This site gives the opportunity for real outdoors escapism as it only offers basic facilities – there is a toilet but no showers, no electric hook ups and limited or no mobile phone reception depending on your network.
Your wild experience could include exploring the wildlife or wild swimming in the river and the lovely Gemma and James might even provide hot water bottles and towels to help you warm back up! Or you might be happy to warm up and relax around your own up-cycled fire pit.
If you want to explore the local area and amenities, then Hawick is a fifteen-minute drive away. Here, you will find a selection of shops, cafes and places to eat. There is also the village of Denholm with the Cross Keys and the town of Jedburgh with its historic abbey and castle jail.
Rue du Chateau is a rare gem of a place for those that want to enjoy truly authentic, rural, wild camping.
